San Antonio / Stone Oak United Healthcare Dentist

In Network Dentist for United Healthcare Dental Plans

Blanco Crossing Dental is in-network for United Healthcare’s National Options PPO 20 and National Options PPO 30 dental plans. As a participating dental provider, we accept these plans for patients throughout San Antonio and the Stone Oak area.

We have worked with the various United Healthcare health insurance programs to provide services for their in-network plans. This allows us to offer dental services at a reduced rate from our standard fee schedule, so you pay less out of pocket when you choose us as your in-network dentist.

Health care coverage varies depending on your health plan, but dental insurance typically covers more — sometimes 100% — for preventive procedures like cleanings and exams, and a bit less for more extensive restorative dental services like crowns and bridges. Either way, we are likely an in-network provider for your health insurance.

Coverage is completely dependent on your specific health insurance plan. Call us for details on what your plan covers.

United Healthcare Dental Plan Options We Accept

United Healthcare offers several dental plan tiers, and our Stone Oak office is a participating network dentist for the plans most commonly offered through employer-sponsored coverage in the San Antonio area. Here is a quick overview of what each plan generally provides:

National Options PPO 20

The National Options PPO 20 plan is a preferred provider organization (PPO plan) that gives patients access to a broad network of dental providers nationwide. In-network patients typically benefit from negotiated rates on general dentistry services including exams, x-rays, and cleanings, as well as restorative treatments such as fillings and dental crowns. Like most PPO dental plans, coverage is tiered — preventive dental care is covered at the highest rate, with basic and major services covered at progressively lower percentages.

National Options PPO 30

The National Options PPO 30 plan follows a similar structure but with a different cost-sharing arrangement. Patients on this plan still receive in-network benefits at Blanco Crossing Dental, with access to the same range of dental services. Whether you need a routine cleaning, a root canal, oral surgery, or a dental implant consultation, we can work with your PPO plan to make sure claims are submitted correctly and your out-of-pocket costs are as low as possible.

What Dental Services Are Covered Under United Healthcare?

Most United Healthcare dental plans divide coverage into three categories: preventive, basic, and major services. Here is a general breakdown of what patients can typically expect:

Preventive Dental Care (Usually Covered at 100%)

Preventive services are the cornerstone of good oral health and are covered at the highest rate under most dental plans. Most general dentist offices provide these preventive services. This typically includes routine cleanings, comprehensive exams, x-rays, and fluoride treatments. Staying current on preventive dental care is the best way to avoid more costly treatment down the road.

Basic Restorative Treatments (Typically 70–80% Coverage)

Basic services generally include fillings, simple extractions, and periodontal treatment. These are services your general dentist performs regularly to address tooth decay and early-stage gum disease before they progress. Coverage percentages vary by plan, and some plans include a waiting period before basic services are covered — call us and we can verify your specific dental coverage before your visit.

Major Dental Services (Typically 50% Coverage)

Major services include dental crowns, bridges, root canal therapy, oral surgery, and dental implants. These procedures typically require an oral surgeon and address more serious tooth damage or tooth loss and typically carry a higher cost share for the patient. That said, using an in-network dentist like Blanco Crossing Dental means you are getting the negotiated rate, which is significantly lower than what you would pay out of network.

Note: Insurance providers are known to frequently change insurance plan details. We do our best to keep this information up to date, but plans are always changing. Call us in order to know exactly your plan covers.

United Healthcare Insurance: DHMO vs PPO

At Blanco Crossing Dental, we only accept PPO plans from insurance companies. United Healthcare offers both PPO plans (covered above) as well as DHMO plans. Unfortunately, we don’t accept Dental HMO plans – our dental office only accepts PPO plans at this time. If you have a DHMO, you can learn more at United Healthcare’s Website.
