San Antonio / Stone Oak MetLife Dentist

MetLife Dental Insurance Dentist in Stone Oak (North San Antonio)

We Are a MetLife Preferred Dentist Program (PDP) Provider

Blanco Crossing Dental is a member of the MetLife Preferred Dentist Program (PDP) — a dental PPO network that gives MetLife members access to negotiated rates at participating practices. As an in-network MetLife dentist in Stone Oak, we provide a wide range of dental services to patients covered under MetLife dental plans, at fees that are lower than our standard schedule.

We have worked with MetLife and agreed upon fees for certain dental procedures and services that are lower than our standard fee schedule. As we are Metlife dental providers, this means you will get a discounted rate on many of our dental services, keeping your out-of-pocket costs as low as possible.

MetLife PDP vs. PDP Plus — What Is the Difference?

MetLife actually operates two PPO networks: PDP and PDP Plus. The PDP Plus network is the larger of the two, with roughly 10,000 more providers nationwide than the standard PDP network. Both networks function the same way — participating dentists have agreed to accept pre-negotiated fees — but if your employer-sponsored plan uses the PDP Plus network, you will have access to a broader pool of in-network dental providers.

The good news: Blanco Crossing Dental is a member of both networks. Whether your MetLife dental plan uses the PDP or PDP Plus network, you are covered here at the same in-network rates. You do not need to call ahead to confirm — if you have a MetLife PPO plan through your employer, we accept it.

What Does MetLife Dental Insurance Cover?

MetLife dental plans follow a standard three-tier structure for covered services. Your specific dental benefits will depend on your plan, but here is how coverage typically breaks down across most MetLife PPO plans:

Preventive Care (Typically Covered at 100%)

Preventive dental care is covered at the highest rate under virtually all MetLife dental plans — usually 100% with no deductible required. This includes routine cleanings (prophylaxis), comprehensive oral exams, bitewing and full-mouth x-rays, and fluoride treatments for eligible dependents. Most plans allow two preventive visits per calendar year. Staying current on preventive care is the most effective way to avoid more costly dental treatment down the road, and MetLife dental plans are structured to make that easy.

Basic Restorative Services (Typically Covered at 70–80%)

[p] Basic services include fillings, simple extractions, root canal treatment (endodontics), and periodontal scaling and root planing for patients with gum disease. These are procedures your general dentist handles on a regular basis. After meeting your annual deductible — typically $50 per individual — MetLife covers a percentage of the cost, with the patient responsible for the remainder. Some plans include waiting periods of up to six to twelve months before basic services are covered, depending on the specific plan. Call us before your visit and we can verify your patient eligibility and confirm whether a waiting period applies.

Major Dental Services (Typically Covered at 50%)

Major services include dental crowns, bridges, dentures, oral surgery, and dental implants. These procedures address more significant tooth damage or tooth loss and carry a higher patient cost share — most MetLife plans cover 50% of major services after the deductible. Most MetLife dental plans carry an annual maximum benefit, commonly ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 per person. Once you reach that annual maximum, remaining costs for the year are your responsibility, which is why planning major treatment around your benefit year can make a meaningful difference in your total out-of-pocket expense.

Dental Specialist Services

If your general dentist determines you need care from a dental specialist who provides services not offered in our dental office, most MetLife plans cover specialist visits under the same benefit tiers. Most MetLife PPO plans are direct referral plans, meaning no preauthorization is required. Your general dentist will provide a referral, and you can contact the specialist directly to schedule your appointment.

What About MetLife TakeAlong Dental?

MetLife TakeAlong Dental is MetLife’s individual and family dental insurance product, designed for people who are self-employed, between jobs, or whose employer does not offer dental benefits. TakeAlong Dental plans also use the MetLife PDP network — so if you carry an individual MetLife plan rather than an employer-sponsored plan, Blanco Crossing Dental is still in-network for you. Coverage tiers and annual maximums vary by individual plan, so call us and we can help verify your specific dental coverage before your visit.

Confused about what your MetLife Dental Insurance Covers?

Call (210) 314-7949 With Insurance Questions.

We know how confusing it can be to figure out dental insurance. We work with MetLife and other insurance companies every day and can tell you exactly what dental coverage you have based on your specific plan. For some procedures — like cleanings and exams — MetLife may cover all or a significant portion of the total cost. For other services, costs will be partially covered. In some cases, a service may not be covered at all.

Your coverage will vary based on your specific insurance plan and benefit year. Call us for details — we are happy to check your patient eligibility and give you a cost estimate before any work is done.

Dental insurance can be a complicated topic. This American Dental Association insurance webinar goes deep into understanding how dental insurance works. If you have any questions about your dental insurance, calling us is likely the easiest route.

We Submit Your Insurance Claims

As a MetLife dental provider, we submit all of your insurance claims directly to MetLife on your behalf. We handle the paperwork, communicate with the insurance company, and work to keep your out-of-pocket costs as low as possible. Our goal is to make sure you understand your dental benefits before treatment begins — so there are no surprises when it comes to cost.

For major procedures, we recommend requesting a pretreatment estimate before work begins. This is a process where we submit your planned treatment to MetLife for a benefits estimate before the appointment, giving you a clear picture of what your plan will cover and what you will owe. It is an optional step, but one we strongly encourage for crowns, implants, oral surgery, or any treatment expected to exceed a few hundred dollars.

Maintaining Your Oral Health with MetLife Dental Coverage

Good dental care is one of the most direct investments you can make in your overall health. Research consistently links oral health to broader systemic conditions — including heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory illness. MetLife dental plans are built around that reality, emphasizing preventive care as the foundation of long-term dental benefits.

At Blanco Crossing Dental, Dr. Ghias Jabbour and our team are committed to helping MetLife patients get the most out of their dental coverage. Whether you are a new patient looking for a MetLife dentist in Stone Oak or an existing patient with questions about your plan, we are here to help.
