Bonding
Bonding is used to repair slightly chipped, discolored, or crooked teeth. To repair these problems and improve the appearance of the tooth, a white filling is placed onto your tooth. The filling “bonds” with your tooth. Our San Antonio cosmetic dentist will select the best tooth-colored shade to ensure it closely matches the appearance of your natural teeth.
Tooth bonding also can be used when filling a cavity instead of amalgam, or silver-colored, fillings. Many patients prefer bonded fillings because the white color is much less noticeable than the silver amalgam fillings. Bonding fillings can be used on front and back teeth depending on the location and extent of tooth decay.
Veneers
You no longer need to hide your smile because of gaps, chips, stains, or misshapen teeth. With veneers, you can easily correct your teeth’s imperfections to help you have a more confident, beautiful smile. Porcelain veneers are natural in appearance, and they are a perfect alternative for patients wanting to make minor adjustments to the look and feel of their smile. Veneers will usually last between 8-10 years before they will need to be replaced.
Porcelain veneers are a good solution to fix a cosmetic issues, including:
- Worn enamel
- Repair damage caused by normal wear and tear and the effects of aging
- Uneven teeth
- Permanent stains such as those caused by antibiotics administered in childhood
- Teeth that are dissimilar in color or contour
Veneers are thin, custom-made shells made from tooth-colored materials (such as porcelain) designed to cover the front side of your teeth. To prepare for veneers, Dr. Jabbour will create a unique model of your teeth. This model is sent to the dental lab to create your custom veneers. Before placing your new veneers onto your teeth, we may need to conservatively prepare your tooth to achieve the desired aesthetic result.
When placed, you’ll be pleased to see that veneers look like your natural teeth. While veneers are stain-resistant, we recommend you avoid or limit, coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco use to maintain the beauty of your new smile.
Patients of all types may qualify for porcelain veneers. Patients who smoke or who have weak teeth are not candidates for veneers. Additionally, those who have missing teeth, periodontal disease, decay, or who need major orthodontic work may require additional treatments prior to having veneers placed.
