Overview
This San Antonio neighborhood is located in San Antonio off of Canyon Golf Road and Wilderness Oak. The area is definitely upscale and primarily contains single family homes.
It’s just a short drive away from the River City proper. It’s right next to both Highway 281 and Highway 1604 and because of that can be fitting for people who do a lot of traveling. Without traffic, it can take around 20 to 30 minutes to reach downtown San Antonio.

Dining and Shopping
Dining
There are numerous chain restaurants a short drive away from Canyon Springs including Subway, Whatabruger, Chilis, 54th Street Grill and Bar, Longhorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden, and Chick-fil-a. There are other chain restaurant options available in the area as well.
Mario’s Pizza and Wine Bar is a privately owned Pizza restaurant just to the east. Mario’s features Italian staples like Pizza (of course), cannolis, gelato, and calzones.
Shopping
The Village at Stone Oak – just to the east of Canyon Springs. This shopping center is home to over 20 establishments, including restaurants, jewelry stores, clothing stores and specialty shops. The Village is anchored by a Super Target. In addition to shopping, The Village also has other business providers including an urgent care, salons and business offices.
Stone Ridge Market – a short drive to the southeast of Canyon Springs. Stone Ridge Market is anchored by a H-E-B Plus and also has many restaurants and retail stores for shopping.
Golf Courses
Canyon Springs Golf Club
Canyon Springs Golf Club is an 18 hole public golf course located in the community. When it opened in 1998, it was named “America’s Best New Public Golf Course” by Golf Digest. According to published greens fees, rates can go as low as around $30 for a round during off horse, and up to around $80 for a round during peak hours.
The clubhouse features dining at the Canyon Springs Bar and Grill. The club is also able to handle meetings and wedding receptions.

Morgan’s Wonderland
Morgan’s Wonderland is a short 20 minute drive away from Canyon Springs and bills itself as a one of a kind theme park with an emphasis on being accessible to all. The park features accessible attractions like wheelchair swings and even a ferris wheel – The Whirling Wonder – that can accommodate guests in wheelchairs.
McCallister Park
McCallister is just one of many nearby parks to Canyon Springs – around a 15 minute drive to the southeast. Part of the San Antonio parks system, McCallister Park has multiple trail loops for walking or biking. There is also a dog park and stationary fitness machines located throughout the park.
Denman Estate Park
Also part of the San Antonio Parks system and a short drive away, Denman Estate park is a unique park in Northern San Antonio which is a great place for friends and family together in a picnic like environment. The park’s crowning feature is the Korean monument – which was created by residents of San Antonio’s sister city – Gwangju, Korea.

School Districts / Day Care Facilities
The Northeast Independent School District and nearby Comal Independent School District serve the Canyon Springs area. While the district has above average grades on the whole according to greatschools.org, the district’s schools within this area score very well.
Both elementary schools (Tuscany Heights and Hardy Oak) get 10/10 scores on greatschools.org. Specht Elementary (Comal Independent School District) gets an 8/10. The middle schools Lopez and Tejeda get a 10/10 and a 9/10 respectively. Reagan High School scores an 8 out of 10.
Buckner Fanning School at Mission Springs
Buckner Fanning is a private Christian School located less than a mile from the heart of Canyon Springs. It provides Pre-K up through 8th grade education and offers a full curriculum.
Preschools / Day Care
The Prep School – this is a private school located in nearby Stone Oak. The Prep School accepts students from 6 weeks all the way up to 6 years old. They even have a private kindergarten program.
Kiddie Academy
The Kiddie Academy is located in Canyon Springs and offers full day care for children from 6 weeks up to Kindergarten age. The Academy also offers before care and after care programs for kids up to age 12.
